Membership services

Membership benefits

For the attainment of its objectives, the core purpose of Connect Europe is to:

  • Promote policies fostering a favorable regulatory and business environment for the European connectivity marketplace, and advocate for Connect Europe’s common interest to European Union decision-makers and other relevant organisations.

  • Facilitate cooperation, coordination of activities, and exchange of information among its Members.

Connect Europe operates 12 working groups and task forces with over 400 legal, technical, operational and other experts participating in their activities. Our working groups and task forces analyse relevant policy and regulatory issues for our members and develop the Association’s common positions, policy proposals, and engagement activities in areas of competence. These groups also serve as platforms for sharing best practices and benchmarking within the membership.

Connect Europe monitors the most relevant policy developments in the connectivity sector and informs its Members through two newsletters (one daily, one weekly) and a daily press review.

Connect Europe provides a forum for creating Member visibility, and facilitates knowledge exchange and information sharing through its meetings, publications, and events.

  • Connect Europe and the Financial Times' annual CEO Summit conferences bring together industry leaders, policymakers, regulators, and influential thinkers to debate how policy and regulation need to adapt for the connectivity sector to best harness its transformation and achieve sustainable development for business, society, and the environment.

  • Meetings with Commissioners, officials from the European Commission, Members of the European Parliament,  regulators, and other policymakers are held regularly and reported in detail.

  • Personal access to senior EU policy makers and others is offered through Connect Europe’s open events in Brussels.

  • The Association publishes an Annual Economic Report that includes sector information on economic and market trends and highlights concrete examples of innovative services developed by our Members.

  • Connect Europe maintains relations with, or holds membership in other associations and international bodies. Members enjoy full insight in ETNO connections with USTelecom, FTTH Council Europe, ITU, ICANN, BEREC, ETSI, the European Internet Forum, and many others.

Who can become an ETNO Member ?

Connect Europe members are European entities offering electronic communications networks and services. They must be established in Europe and operate their services there. Members are entitled to vote at General Assemblies and be elected to the Executive Board of the Association.

Furthermore, Connect Europe’s Observers are entities belonging to the broader connectivity value chain involved in the European telecommunications sector. Observers do not hold voting rights at General Assemblies and cannot be elected to the Executive Board, but they participate in the regular activities of the Association.
