The European Telecommunications Network Operators' Association (ETNO) proposes to designate the upper part (1800 - 1805 MHz) of the former Terrestrial Flight Telecommunications System (TFTS) band to UMTS/IMT-2000.

ETNO proposes to designate the upper part (1800 - 1805 MHz) of the former Terrestrial Flight Telecommunications System (TFTS) band to UMTS/IMT-2000. This proposal is consistent with the Commission policy goals regarding the Information Society and fosters global harmonisation as this band is already identified for IMT-2000 in the ITU-R Radio Regulations. The use of the lower part of the former TFTS band (1670 - 1675 MHz) for the Mobile Satellite Service (MSS) according the WRC-03 results is supported.
