EC065 - ETNO Expert Contribution commenting on Draft ECC/DEC/(04)LL

ETNO's preferred solution would be an introduction of Short Range Radars in the 79 GHz range right from the beginning because its member companies operate a significant number of fixed service links in the frequency bands intended to be covered also by automotive Short Range Radars at 24 GHz.

ETNO is not in favour of increasing the maximum penetration rate higher than 5.9 % and extending the cut off date. The current compromise for penetration rate and cut-off date for a temporary SRR introduction at 24 GHz is merely based on political pressure rather than on technical grounds. ETNO is afraid that the increase of the penetration rate to 7% involves the risk that fixed service links are interfered, in particular in connection with the extended cut-off date. ETNO proposes modifications of considering y) and z) and DECIDES 7 concerning the reaching of the penetration limit.
