ETNO has a good cooperation with CEPT, which is consolidated by the practice of exchanging observers between CEPT and ETNO and formalised via a Letter of Understanding. ETNO praises the organisation for its level of technical expertise and for its active involvement of industry but recognised that CEPT may wish to change its image and update its mission. ETNO noted that while CEPT should maintain its strong focus on its core activities, it could also embark on new issues. ETNO would particularly welcome CEPT taking up the topic of cybersecurity - within the remit of the ITU involvement in the matter while coordinating European support to ITU’s cybersecurity activities. Internet governance should however remain within the remit of the currently responsible organisations and should not be included in CEPT’s future mission. ETNO supports the current repartition of work between CEPT and the European Commission. The level of industry involvement in CEPT could serve as an example for certain EU bodies, such as the radio-spectrum committees which could deserve more transparency.
